Committee Meeting - March 19, 2015

Committee members from all 9 partner districts met today at Barnum Elementary School. 

1. Welcome from Barnum - Mr. Bottem welcomed the committee and showed this video about leadership.
2. NASC Payment structure: The steering committee will report on the progress they have made on this task. 

• MPCC pays $15,000 per course for creation and review
• Salary vs. hourly wage
• Utilize MPCC for the curriculum writing training
• Group discussion: Questions regarding MPCCs training requirements. MPCC will let anyone take their training. 
• Sending down a group to get more experience and information regarding MPCC training
• Discussion about how writers would get paid (fiscal host).
• Need to come up with an amount for course.
• MPCCs courses are built as year long courses.
• What is MPCC reviewing (i.e. copyright, content, standards, etc)?

3. MPCC: A quick update

• Summary sheet. 
• A total of $445,783.55 has been committed so far
• Checked in with staff that are using MPCC. 
• Curriculum is not a complete solution. Customization and additions will be needed. 
• Moose Lake is using the math curriculum over their current textbooks. 
• Feedback from teachers is needed to make the courses better. 
• An example was given that South Washington County Schools is relying on MPCC for their curriculum. 

4. Updates on area programs and offerings

• Barnum is hosting a Schoology Training on Friday, March 20th at 1:00. 
• Carlton is moving forward with a digital initiative and is looking for policies, ideas. 
• Moose Lake gave an update on how their Chromebook 1:1 is going in grades 5-8.
• Willow River also gave an update on their Chromebook 1:1.

5. Other

• A request was made by a staff member at a partner district to create a brochure to help recruit teachers to the area. 
• Would be interesting to look at our skill sets and utilize them better
• Looked at a shared calendar or even shared PLC/inservice time
• The early out on Wednesday was discussed and compared to what districts are doing now. 
• Discussed augmented PD, with an LMS or even through webcams
• We will get a report back from the Superintendents
• Many new questions have added to the Google Group today, check them out and add your own. 
• Nearpod and Literatu were mentioned as good student management systems in 1:1.
