NASC committee members from several of the districts meet on Tuesday, February 10th at Carlton's South Terrance Elementary.
1. Greetings and Introductions
Reps from Barnum, Carlton, Cloquet, Cromwell-Wright, Esko, Moose Lake, Willow River, and Wrenshall were present.
2. Carlton will share a little about their district
Carlton is a celebration school with an Elementary and High School building. They have 40 acres next to their South Terrace Elementary building.
3. MLK update: A session on NASC was held. It was well attended by our committee members, but few non-committee members
Only a couple non-committee members showed up, but a good discussion occurred

How do we get the events onto the page? Committee members can request to be an editor of this page by emailing Evan. Events/projects/trainings
Discussion was had in regards to how to express needs and then find a resource. Various methods were covered including the webpage, Google Group.
5. NASC guidelines for writing curriculum: I am recommending that a sub committee works on this and brings it back to the group.
Looking at getting curriculum writing started following the MPCC model. A sub committee was created to look at this in more depth and come back with a recommendation. Four members volunteered to work on this.
6. Grant writing
Looking at incorporating the grant writer from McGregor school into this committee.
7. Happenings in the area school
Carlton is hosting a STEAM professional development session that is put on by UMD Continuing Education. There are about 10 open seats. The focus is water and the flood that occurred in the Carlton area.
8. Next Steps
Recommendation from sub committee on the curriculum writing process that NASC will utilize.
Spread the word throughout your districts.
Possibility of looking for a Co-Chair to help with the planning and organization of the meetings.
