Action Committees
Review where we are at (see March minutes below):
Action Committees work time
  • Collaboration:
    • Showcase (NASC News Bytes)
      • We want to showcase the collaboration that is going on between districts
      • It would be up to each NASC member to determine the best way to present. It was suggested to use staff meetings (either NASC member or Principal)
      • Released Quarterly. First edition is ready at the beginning of the year.
      • Collect more stories @ EdCamp
      • Collaboration committee will be in charge of collecting stories. We will be asking NASC members for help.
      • First Edition: Battle of Books, Document Spring, & Science Collaboration.
      • Billie is getting 2nd quarter stories
      • Posted on website as well
    • Science Standards
      • Would like to get science teachers together to help each other.
      • Possibly use EdCamp time (sessions, afternoon meeting time)
  • Innovation:
    • Reading strategies survey had 60 responses, some responses came from PLC groups
    • Results need to be organized
    • Will aim to share out a list of popular books to help hook reluctant readers next fall.
    • Need to decide what else to do with the survey results; share out with PLC groups, etc.
  • Staff Development:
    • EDCamp: Should be similar numbers to last year
      • Monday after MEA (21st)
      • Location TBD (Willow River, Carlton, Esko are checking)
      • Will look at putting together “how to” video in September so staff can have a refresher prior to EDCAMP.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RDZV3e1o3ftpkEFDdb8crgmTR41lJBHTstEFtYHEX0o/edit?usp=sharing
      • Science standards refresh: may need a group to discuss
      • Leave afternoon open for science teachers
    • MLK Day: Dave Burgess
      • Door prizes
      • Different session types (panels, playgrounds, etc)
